Day 3. Okehampton to Bridgwater. The day we saw a Tornado !

Distance: 64.6 miles
Average speed: 10.89mph
Max. Speed: 32mph
Time in saddle: 5hr 55 min
Total distance: 200 miles
Soreness rating of nether region: 4 out of 10

Stayed in in the Travelodge at Whiddon Down wnich is attached to a Little Chef. Probably the worst Travelodge in the country. Very tired. If you ever drive past it on your way to Cornwall and wonder who stays there, then I can tell you, people who have never stayed there before! That said, the Little Chef managed to match the quality set by the Travelodge. Service delivered with the occasional grunt from staff. Cutlery thrown your way if you were lucky to see any!
Anyway, back to the cycling, at times dry, but for the most part chucking it down, plenty of hills to wear my little legs out.

What I didn't know that my friend Dave who I have been riding with, had been carefully pacing our journey. To ensure that we got to the right villiage at bang on 4.20pm. Why? So he could see Tornado. Dave tells me that it is the first new steam train to be built in 50 years in the UK, boiler built in Germany and we are very lucky to see it in the south of the country as it is doing a tour.
Once that excitement was over it was back on our bikes, out of Devon and into Somerset.
Up onto the Quantocks, which meant sime huge hills, then finally into Bridgwater for tea and cakes.
I seem to be eating more than ever, so weight gain will be inevitable!
In all, great day with plenty to see, including random pigs!

I notice your nether region soreness has been going up by one per day. You may need to change your scale LOL

I have a Specialized Sirrus Sport, which is essentialy a road bike, but with flat bars. Probably a bit stronger than a road bike, hope so as it's a bit heavier. Noticed that on the hills.
Thanks for your support.
